Model X96N Process Measurement Computer Continuous Level Monitor

Scintillation Detector
Ronan Scintillation Detectors use various photo conversion devices and scintillation materials to satisfy the difficult measurement requirements encountered in the process industries. Utilization of gain stabilization circuitry allows Ronan to provide the user of these devices with the most stable Scintillation Detector available today. Research and Development in the areas related to optical passage of light pulses have permitted Ronan to offer an elongated Scintillation Detector for continuous level measurements. Proper selection of components and customized fabrication techniques enable Ronan to provide solutions to difficult applications where lesser, more dated designs fail the user.

Construction and Operation
The Scintillation Sensor may consist of a Plastic Phosphor Sodium Iodide Crystal which produces a pulse of light when ionized by gamma radiation. The light pulse is detected by a phototube which converts the light into an electrical pulse. This pulse is amplified and fed into pulse height discrimination and gain compensation circuitry. This corrects for drift or gain change due to temperature variation and other photo tube characteristics. The pulses emitted from the high efficiency Scintillation Detector vary according to the radiation being measured. This pulse signal is then transmitted to the Ronan X96N Process Computer for further signal conditioning.
