Holder/Radiation Source
The Ronan Mold Level System utilizes either Cs-137 isotope or
Co-60 as its source of radiation. The cesium isotope is often selected
for its excellent penetration capability and 30 year half-life. The
source material is doubly encapsulated in a heliarc-welded stainless
steel capsule and placed into the stainless steel source rod. The
source rod is contained within a lead filled iron source holder, which
provides shielding in all directions except where radiation is beamed
toward the detector. A shutter can be provided to allow complete
shielding during shipping, installation and maintenance.
