Components
The Ronan Mold Level System consists of a source holder, detector,
cable and electronic unit. Both source holder and detector are
integral parts of the mold housing. An interconnect cable connects the
detector to the remotely mounted electronic unit. Electronic packages
include panel mount, rack mount, surface mount and NEMA type
enclosures.
The highly focused radiation beam emitted from the source holder is
transmitted through the baffles , water, coppers and blocked by the
liquid steel being poured into the mold from the tundish. The
scintillation detector receives radiation in an amount inversely
proportional to the level of liquid steel within the mold. This signal
is then processed in the X96N or X99 and a signal representing level
is calculated. This level is then output in either a voltage or milli-amp
signal to the customer's PLC or DCS for control and/or trending.
State-of-the-art
processing technology coupled with easily installed non-contacting
measuring assembly combine to provide the user with a very reliable
and cost effective method of mold level sensing.
