The Ronan Continuous Weighing System uses the cesium-137 isotope
as its source of radiation. The cesium isotope is selected for its
excellent penetration capability and thirty year half-life. The source
material is doubly encapsulated in a heliarc-welded stainless steel
capsule and placed into a ductile iron housing with rotary shutter.
This package provides complete shielding during shipping, installation
and maintenance.
